If you are a pensioner and you requested a refund of part of the taxes paid during the last Income Tax campaign, there are important changes that you should be aware of:

Who is affected by this measure?

  • Pensioners who are former workers in sectors such as banking, construction, electricity, iron and steel or fishing, who contributed to mutual societies in their sectors before they were integrated into Social Security.
  • If you have already received your refund… you don’t have to do anything! If you have already received your refund before December 22, 2024, you don’t have to worry. This new measure only affects those pensioners who have not yet received the refund of the taxes requested.

What has changed?

  • Return history: Until now, you could claim a refund of the taxes paid for your pension, in those cases in which contributions to mutual societies made before 1978 were not deducted correctly.
  • Changes from 22 December 2024:
    • It is no longer allowed to request a one-time refund.
    • Claims must be submitted year by year, following this calendar:
      • 2025: 2019 financial year
      • 2026: 2020 financial year
      • 2027: Fiscal year 2021
      • 2028: Fiscal year 2022
